ALMOND BUTTER COOKIES

Ingredients:

? 1 cup butter or margarine
? 1/2 cup sugar
? 2 cups flour
? 1/4 tsp salt
? 1 tsp almond extract*
Method:

1. Cream butter and sugar.
2. Add extract.
3. Add salt and flour and mix well.
4. Chill dough.
5. Form one inch balls.
6. Stamp immediately with cookie stamp or fork.
7. Bake at 325?F for 12 to 15 minutes.
*Original Pennsylvania Dutch cooking did not use extracts. The original recipe called for grinding 1 cup of almonds.
