Amish Dinner Rolls

1 1 /2 cups milk
4 teaspoons yeast
1 /4 cup butter
1 /2 cup warm water
2 eggs, beaten
7 cups flour
1/2 up sugar
1 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS: Scald milk with butter in it. Beat eggs, add sugar and salt. Pour hot milk over egg mixture and cool to luke warm. Dissolve yeast in warm water, add to milk. Stir in flour to make a soft dough. Punch down, let rise 1 hour and shape into buns. Let rise until light. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown.
BUTTERMILK COOKIES

1c butter or margarine, softened 1 tsp baking powder
2c sugar 1/4 tsp nutmeg
3 eggs, beaten 4 & 1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt 1 c buttermilk
Nuts or raisins optional

Cream butter and sugar together.
Add beaten eggs to the creamed mixture.
Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl – add this to the creamed mixture alternately with the
buttermilk.
Drop dough onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake 350 for approximately 15 minutes.

3 eggs, well beaten 1c flour
1c sugar 1 tsp baking powder
1c chopped nuts Powdered sugar
1c chopped dates

Mix all ingredients together and spread in a greased shallow pan.
Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.
Cool, cut in strips, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Green Tomato Bread

1c oil 3c flour
3 eggs, beaten 1/2 tsp baking powder
2c sugar (or 1c honey) 1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla 1c chopped nuts
2c diced green tomatoes 1c raisins (optional)

Add oil to eggs, sugar (or honey), vanilla and tomatoes.
Add dry ingredients to mixture and blend well.
Stir in nuts and raisins.
Pour into 2 greased loaf pans.
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
