Buttermilk Cookies w/brown sugar icing

2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup softened butter
4 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda

Cream sugar and butter. Add vanilla and eggs and beat well. Add baking powder to the flour and baking soda to the buttermilk (it will foam slightly). Add the liquid and flour alternately and mix together well. Can be dropped or rolled out for cutouts. Bake at 375 for about 8 minutes. Cool and ice with Brown Sugar icing.

Brown Sugar Icing

Melt 1 stick of butter. Blend in 1 cup brown sugar and ? tsp. salt. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add ? cup milk, 2 ? cups powdered sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix together until smooth and ice buttermilk cookies.
