Green Tomato Pickle

1 gallon sliced green tomatoes
10 med size onions
1 Tbsp mustard seed
2 pints vinegar
1/4 c salt
1 c sugar

Slice tomatoes in thin slices, do not peel.
Slice onions in thin rings.
Place alternate layers of sliced tomatoes and onion in crock.
Sprinkle with mustard seed.
Combine sugar, salt, vinegar and pour over tomatoes.
Cover with a plate and let stand 24 hrs before using.
This is a cold crisp pickle.
