HOMEMADE BREAD

Mix 1 tablespoon sugar in 1 coffee mug of hot water. Stir to dissolve. Cool to lukewarm. Add 1
package dry yeast. Let rise about ½ to ¾ hour or until bubbly. Add 1 coffee mug of lukewarm
milk, 2 well beaten eggs and 1 rounded tablespoon lard. Mix well. Add enough flour to make a
stiff dough. May use wheat flour, if desired. (I like to use water from cooking potatoes.) Set
dough in warm place to rise for 1 hour. Punch down. Let rise again for 1 hour. Shape into
loaves. Let rise to double in size. Bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes. Makes 2 large loaves.
