Raspberry Ribbons

(Roselane Farm Bed & Breakfast – Goshen, Indiana)

1 cup butter, softened
2 ? cups flour
? c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
? tsp salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 small jar Raspberry Jam
? cup powdered sugar
? tsp almond extract
3-4 tsp milk

Preheat oven to 375^ F. In a mixing bowl mix together butter, half of flour, sugar, vanilla, salt and slightly beaten egg. Add remaining flour mixing well. Divide into 8 equal pieces and shape into balls. Roll each ball into a 9? long rope. Place each rope on a cookie sheet 2 ? ? apart. Press a groove down the length of each rope. Bake at 375^ F for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and spoon raspberry jam down the groove of each rope. Return to oven to bake for an additional 5 minutes. Cool.
Make the glaze for the top of the ribbons with ? cup powdered sugar, ? tsp almond extract, and the 3-4 tsps milk. Drizzle over cooled ribbons.
