½ C. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 lg. coffee mugs of lukewarm water
2 pkgs. or 2 T. yeast
1 T. (rounded) lard
Mix all the above ingredients, except yeast. Spread yeast over top and let stand about 1 hour.
Work in all-purpose flour to make a stiff dough. Knead until smooth. Let stand another hour.
Punch down and let stand again for 1 hour. Shape in loaves and let rise to double in size. Bake
in medium oven for 30 minutes. Keep dough in warm place all the time.
